My colleage at First Presbyterian, Shasta Bode-Brown, has many gifts; one of which is a love for movies and ability to see the thread of faith woven into many of them. A few years ago she started a blog as part of her seminary studies, God and the Tiki Room, where she engages this conversation on a regular basis (also on Facebook and Twitter). The "tiki room" name, by the way, comes from the name given to the basement of the Brown house, where once a month our youth group gathers to watch a movie on the large LCD projector, eat popcorn and talk afterwards about where they saw God. Good stuff.
Today, Shasta launches a weekly guest blog post from various friends and colleagues in ministry, and I'm the guinea pig. I took a look at the 1997 movie Contact with Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey. Great flick. Let me invite you to check it out HERE or by clicking on the picture below. And consider subscribing to Shasta's blog - lots of good things to come in the months ahead.
